A little bit about myself. I graduated from West Fargo High School in 1997 and shortly after went into the U.S. Navy. While in the Navy I was trained as a Hospital Corpsman, and further trained as a Field Medical Corpsman (combat medic). My first duty assignment was with the 11th Marine Corps Expeditionary Force out of Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton, California. Yes, Navy Corpsman serve with all Marine Corps units, as the Marines are a branch of the Navy. My second duty assignment was to the Emergency Department at Naval Hospital Great Lakes, where I served as an EMT on an ambulance, and worked in the Emergency Room. I served about 6.5 years in the Navy.
When I was discharged from military service I pursued my post secondary education and graduated from Minnesota State University Moorhead with two Bachelors Degrees. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Life Science Teaching, and a Bachelor of Art in Biology, with Health and Medical Emphasis.
Initially I intended to pursue a health care career, but realized I love science and wanted to help students find enjoyment in all fields of science. I was hired by Ulen-Hitterdal in August of 2012 and have very much enjoyed teaching in this district.
